Scientific production on digital competence in information science: mapping of publications, authors, and reference frameworks between 2018 and 2022

It aims to map scientific production on digital competence in Information Science, identifying the frequency, main authors and digital competence reference frameworks used. A consultation was carried out in three specialized databases in Information Science, considering works published between 2018 and 2022. After selecting the articles for analysis, 16 works were counted. With the results, production, collaboration and impact indicators were generated, identifying authors with multiple publications, the most cited works, the number of publications per year, the most frequent keywords and the methodologies used in each research. The results reveal an increase in the number of works on the topic of digital competence in recent years, being published in different countries: Brazil, Croatia, Korea, Poland, Spain, Portugal and Chile. In the works analyzed, several instruments were used to assess digital competence, in addition to questionnaires themselves constructed based on one more frames of reference. It is concluded that digital competence has an interdisciplinary nature, fostering dialogue among the fields of Information Science, Education, and Health, emphasizing the need for greater collaboration between these areas. The analysis also highlighted the growth in the number of scientific publications on the topic, as well as the widespread use of European digital competence frameworks (DigComp and DigCompEdu) as evaluation tools and references, whether in competence dimensions, proficiency profiles, or assessment scales.
