Brown lacewings are important in biological control programs for agricultural pests, as they feed on arthropod pests associated with different cultures, but data on their biology and distribution are still scarce. Due to its importance and the scarcity of data, the present study aimed to survey of Hemerobiidae species in fruit trees submitted to organic and conventional cultivation systems in the region of Avaré, São Paulo, to assist future control programs that may use brown lacewings as a controlling predator. For a year collections were carried out using McPhail-type traps and attractive mango juice in fruit species. In total 22 specimens of four species of three genera of Hemerobiidae were collected, 16 specimens of Hemerobius domingensis Banks, 1941, Megalomus impudicus (Gerstaecker, 1888), Megalomus rafaeli Penny & Monserrat, 1985, and Nusalala tessellata (Gerstaecker, 1888) were collected in fruit trees submitted to the organic cultivation system, and six specimens of M. rafaeli and N. tessellata were collected in fruit trees submitted to the conventional cultivation system. The greatest diversity of Hemerobiidae was observed in fruit trees submitted to the organic cultivation system, probably due to their greater vegetation diversity and the non-use of phytosanitary products.
