Abstract

This article presents the oral tradition based on the exposition by Amadou Hampaté Bâ (2003; 2010) as a basis for reflecting on the
philosophy of orality proposed by Paula Junior (2019; 2020; 2022) to think about processes of preservation and transmission of
epistemologies of African origin on the African continent and in the diaspora. Aspects such as orality itself, ancestry, corporeality,
spirituality and community were maintained in transatlantic black bodies, even with the hardships of modern slavery, as highlighted by
Maria Antonieta Antonacci (2014). These traits were preserved in the vast Afro-Brazilian cultural universe distributed from north
to south of Brazil and are transmitted in social, cultural and educational spaces that can be thought of as quilombola spaces of resistance
distributed in different locations, including urban spaces. This knowledge and its oral transmission model present an educational
methodology that can contribute to school education by expanding the possibilities of applying Federal Law n.11.645/2008, which makes
the teaching of Afro-Brazilian and indigenous history and culture mandatory in education. This analysis demonstrates its effectiveness
in the very historicity of the black presence in Brazil with the preservation of their cultures and ways of resisting the slavery period
and the resilience in the struggles for citizenship rights. It establishes on the horizon of Bantu-based African philosophy an ethic of
conviviality in which differences are valued and expand the possibilities of knowledge.
