There has been a long discussion about school failure in Brazil. Disinterested students, deficient learning, lack of laboral conditions, among others. The solution proposals are as extensive as the diagnoses. But it is important that, in some way, paths are taken towards improving teaching. One of these paths is to bring what is learned closer to what is experienced by students. The teaching of maps moves toward this direction. Recognizing them as texts read by students in their daily lives is a way of teaching School Cartography in a more assertive way. Therefore, this article aims to analyze cartographic literacy proposals as a contribution to multiliteracies pedagogy. To this end, a qualitative research was carried out using maps from books from the Multiversos Collection from FTD publishing house. The results point to a greater inclusion of cartographic literacy proposals in books approved by the PNLD.
