DIDACTICS OF GEOGRAPHY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF GEOGRAPHICAL THINKING IN THE EXPOSITORY CLASS

This paper offers a discussion of the idea that there is a specific didactic to teach Geography at school and that directs students towards the construction of a specific way of thinking, called geographical thinking. It has presented first a discussion from a theoretical point of view on the characteristics that are part of the didactics of Geography from the perspective of the construction of geographic thinking in the expository class. Then, it was analyzed the teaching practice, seeking to visualize the characteristics of the didactics of Geography in the lectures developed by the teachers. The investigation showed that it is necessary to enhance the knowledge about didactics of Geography to more autonomy and participation of students in the learning process. However, widely, theoretical and practical contributions that ground this research direct to a specific way of teaching, whatever the didactics of Geography, supported by the elaboration of elementary concepts, geographical reasoning and the development of geographical thinking, using, therefore, the geographical method, which will raise a way of seeing spatiality and the development of mental functions capable to lead students conceive another way to think the reality.
