To understand the aspects of the schooling geography’s trajectory in Brazil, we intended to approximate of the proposed curriculum for the middle school in 1930. We highlighted the influence of Pierre Monbeig, Aroldo de Azevedo e Maria Conceição Vicente de Carvalho, who developed a programme for the Geography teaching at the time. This academic paper was developed through searching and analysis of documentary sources, among them the text “O ensino secundário da Geografia”, published in 1935, in a magazine named Geografia. We seek to highlight the context in which the proposal was produced, and also the authors’ contribution for the organization of the Geography curriculum of the time. This curriculum organized the way Geography should be taught in schools, as well as the playing role that the subject took on reaffirming the status quo.
