In this work, we analyze dissertations from the Professional Master's Program in Physics Teaching that address the use of Inquiry-Based Learning in educational products for teaching mechanics in high school. The research is justified by the widespread reach of this graduate program throughout Brazil and the importance of mechanics teaching in Basic Education. It has a qualitative and narrative perspective, having been conducted using materials available in the theses and dissertations database of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel. It is situated within the context of outreach work undertaken by a study and research group on experimental practices in Science Education. We observed an almost unanimous discrepancy between the theoretical framework adopted and the steps developed in the educational products, with an emphasis on scripted and/or demonstrative work, compromising the scientific dissemination of materials.
