Abstract

This article discusses the life narratives of the elderly black women from the Quilombola community Maria de Juvêncio, located in the city of Biritinga, Bahia. Their life stories were told during a group conversation with eight elderly women. The research’s main goal is to analyze the life narratives of the elderly black women of the Quilombola community Maria de Juvêncio from an intersectionality point, as a way to infer their legacy. To this end, we'll make use of a Qualitative Research to support our findings inspired by Minayo (2007), on Roda de Conversa by Alfonso and Abade (2008) and oral history by Alberti (2004). As for the theoretical framework, the following stand out: Munanga and Gomes (2016), Davis (2016), Carneiro (2011), Jesus (2014). It is evident that the lives of elderly black women were full of negativities and suffering, the axes of intersectionality and the legacy of slavery, such as exclusion, social inequalities and discrimination, were present throughout their lives.
