Abstract

The present report aims to explore the relationship between memory and the formation of spaces, through cinema, as well as to emphasize the role of the university, and more specifically of extension, in confronting neocolonial impositions. Thinking about cinema as a powerful pedagogical tool, the experience regarding the cine-debate entitled “Cidade axé”, promoted by the extension project Cinema: subjectivity, culture and power, Associated with Feira de Santana State University, as an activity foreseen in the student work plan Matheus Guimarães Costa, supervised by Prof. Dr. Alex Santana França. Through the selection, exhibition and discussion of the selected films, it was possible to emphasize the importance of valuing diverse cultures, especially of black and indigenous peoples in Brazilian territory.
