Benjamin, McLuhan e Debord e a criação de um imaginário utópico
Abstract
With a discourse analysis, this article responds to a criticism that Walter Benjamin, McLuhan and Guy Debord directed to the film, the media and the spectacle, respectively, it aligns itself in the creation of a utopian imaginary of visual culture and the creation of subjectivities. Therefore, the authors' review was carried out with a defined criterion: the author’s definition regarding a specific historical review that seeks emancipation through technology. The results indicate that a proposition of using the media as a liberating path is common to authors who, in line with a notion of determinism linked to the thought of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, each propose their own form of emancipation. It is suggested, therefore, that the authors align themselves in the creation of an imaginary that can be represented as a socialist utopia.
