The new coronavirus pandemic surprised everyone with its abrupt onset and ability to spread among people. Hand washing is one of the most effective measures to prevent contagion by SARS-CoV-2, but it is not always possible because it requires the use of water and soap. In this context, the use of ethyl alcohol emerges as an alternative strategy to cleaning with water and soap due to the practical use and effective action against the virus. Considering the important role of universities in the training of new professionals, engaged in improving social conditions, and their commitment to the community in situations of vulnerability, this study aims to report the experience of the University Pharmacy of the Federal University of Alfenas in the development of a Extension action for the production, fractionation, packaging and labeling of ethyl alcohol for purposes of use in the services of the Unified Health System and other public agencies destined to serve the population.
