Abstract: The present work aims to reflect on the quality in distance education (EaD). It is part of an interinstitutional survey of the Central-West region, in which the Federal University of Mato Grosso participates. In highlighting this concept, the objective is to establish understandings about it, considering the context of the EAD. In order to comply with the objective outlined, a bibliographical survey was carried out, based on the following sources: Theses Portal of the Europe and Scopus. The results evidenced the need for a critical look, due to the understanding, in the studies researched, that quality in education is related to the service offer, therefore, from the perspective of the student-client, what brings the EaD closer to the discussions about profitability, moving it away from understanding teaching-learning as a formative process. It is assumed in this reflection that greater conceptual precision is needed in favor of an EDA consistent with socially referenced democratic education and quality.
Keywords: Distance Education. Quality. Teaching-learning process.
