This article aims to analyze and discuss extension prac-tices in the field of philosophy. To this end, it considers significant aspects of design and realization of the meeting “Silence, silencing and female writing”, held during the Welcome Week of University of Brasilia, in 2017. The article describes the theoretical assumptions underlying the activities that the researcher team proposed for the meeting, illustrating the meaning of its motto, and discussing philo-sophical approaches of how to deal with women’s issues in a broa-der context of extension. The initiative aimed to emphasize the for-mative potencial of extension, as a dialectic process of mediation, in which the participants of the activities are considered as social and cultural agents. Furthermore, discussing images of women in phi-losophy, i.e. the woman as objects of philosophy (as philosophical issue), but especially as subjects that make philosophy, the event ai-med to give voice to women, as promoters of knowledge and active protagonists within the academic community and in society.
