This work is an excerpt from the master's dissertation entitled "Gender perceptions of teachers in the Chemistry Degree course at the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Norte". We discuss the view of professors who work in the specific core of the Chemistry Degree course about gender issues that permeate society. The methodology adopted to collect the data was the semi-structured interview with five professors of the Chemistry Degree Course at IFRN with the aim of analysing their perceptions about gender issues in society. The collected qualitative data were analysed through the Textual Discourse Analysis (DTA) proposed by Moraes and Galiazzi (2007, 2016). The results show that inequalities between genders are “perceptible” in everyday life, as not only the interviewees, but the
institution where they work, are inserted in a reality and in a society marked by the division of sexes, the submission of one sex over another, while equity should prevail.
