Imagem corporal no contexto da Educação Física Escolar: um estudo com estudantes do Ensino Médio

The study aimed to analyze the degree of body image distortion and the correlation with participation in Physical Education classes among adolescents in full-time state schools in the city of Caruaru-PE. This is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design and quantitative approach, in which 74 high school students from three full-time schools in Caruaru-PE participated. Data collection took place through two questionnaires, one with 20 questions based on the practice of Physical Education at school, and the Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ. Based on the results found, it was concluded that the majority (52.7%) presented some degree of body image distortion. There was no correlation between body image and participation in Physical Education classes.
