This essay presents a reflection, based on the historical-dialectical materialist method, on the decline of theory in the training of physical education teachers. It argues that the national curriculum guidelines, as well as knowledge production in the field, exhibit patterns that confirm the objectification of the denial of knowledge and the consequent expansion of pragmatism, spontaneism, and scientific reductionism. In conclusion, it presents resistance perspectives, considering as a reference the development of training for transition, built upon the unity between the pedagogical and the political.
