Nem uma doutrina, nem um método – apenas uma educação física eficiente para o Colégio Militar do Rio de Janeiro (1947-1948)

This study analyzes the development and implementation of a General Physical Training Program at the Military School of Rio de Janeiro in 1948. To this end, it adopts the concept of School Culture as an analytical category and utilizes sources such as the publications of the journal Revista de Educação Física, the decrees regulating education in the Army and the Military School, and editions of the journal A Aspiração. The theoretical and methodological framework is based on Ginzburg’s (1989) evidential paradigm, Bloch’s (2001) documentary critique and analysis of Chartier’s (2002) printed work. The study indicates pieces of evidence of a hybrid educational practice, resulting from the amalgamation of the C-21-20 Manual and the new paradigm promoted by the Physical Education Division of the Brazilian Ministry of Education and Health.
