Abstract

Practicing water activities can improve the motor development of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Therefore, the study aimed to carry out a systematic review on the possible influence of water activities on the motor development of these children. The Scielo-Scientific, Electronic Library Online, Google Scholar and PubMed databases were used. The data were tabulated according to: author/year, participants, intervention performed, protocol for evaluating motor development and main results obtained. Water activities were effective in movement control, motor coordination and balance and improved stereotyped movements and echolalia. A lack of studies on the topic was also identified.
