Abstract

This research aimed to characterize the 31 professors who work in the Gymnastics area in 20 public universities in the southern region of Brazil, through their Currículo Lattes. There was a lack of affinity with the theme of Gymnastics among the professors, who contemplated the competitive gymnastics in their teaching activities. Publications on Gymnastics seem to be still incipient, with few orientations of scientific research, as well as few extension actions (scientific and sporting/cultural events). The situation seems to reflect the personal effort of certain professors and the still small approximation of others with the area.
