Abstract

Cricket is one of the most popular sports in the world, with 2.5 million players. The study presents the initial characteristics of the modality in Brazil, its importance and evolution. A review of the literature and moments of observation of the development of the project were carried out, both for the social project, as well as for the women's selection and the base selections. The article demonstrates that the modality, still little known, played a fundamental role in the culture of our country, mainly due to the emergence of several social and sports clubs, impacting the lives of many children and young people inserted in vulnerable environments. With the practice of the modality, these young people have developed psychosocial skills, enhancing their integral, personal and professional training through sport.

He is currently a Full Professor at the State University of Campinas. He was a member of the Working Group set up by the Extraordinary Ministry of Sports within the scope of the National Institute for the Development of Sports, whose purpose was to advise the Institute in the implementation process of the Educational Sports Program (1996-2000) in Brazil; Member of the Commission of Teaching Specialists in the Area of ​​Physical Education - Ministry of Education - Secretariat for Higher Education (2000-2002), Extension Coordinator of the Faculty of Physical Education at Unicamp (1990-1995); Associate Director of the Faculty of Physical Education at Unicamp (1998-2002); Director of the Faculty of Physical Education at Unicamp (2002-2006); Leader of the Study Group on Sport Pedagogy (GEPESP) accredited by CNPq since 2006; Executive Director of the Unicamp-FUNCAMP Development Foundation (2008-2010); Campus Mayor of the State University of Campinas (2009-2012) and Pro-Rector of University Development at the State University of Campinas from June 7, 2012 to April 30, 2013. Bacharel em Esportes, Mestre e Doutor em Distúrbios do Desenvolvimento pela Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie e pela California State University - Fullerton - USA. Experiência profissional na área de treinamento esportivo e qualidade de vida. Atualmente exerço a função de analista de esportes da coordenadoria de esportes da Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, sendo o responsável pela análise da bolsa de estudo categoria esporte, contratação dos técnicos das modalidades esportivas das equipes da Universidade e pelo acompanhamento físico e acadêmico dos alunos bolsistas. Pesquisas concentram-se na relação entre o sistema nervoso autônomo, síndromes genéticas, qualidade de vida, psicologia do esporte e desempenho acadêmico.Vice-presidente do conselho da Federação Universitária Paulista de Esportes (FUPE). Membro do Grupo de Estudos em Psicologia do Esporte e Neurociências (GEPEN).

Paula Teixeira Fernandes , UNICAMP

Psychologist graduated in 1997 from the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas. He holds a Master's and Doctorate in Medical Sciences - Neurosciences, from the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM) - UNICAMP. He did a Post-Doctorate at FCM-UNICAMP (Neurosciences), in partnership with the University of South Carolina (USA) in the area of ​​neuroimaging and rehabilitation. He also did a Post-Doctoral internship at the University of Porto (Portugal) in the area of ​​aging and Sports Psychology, in partnership with FCM-UNICAMP. Free Lecturer at the Department of Sport Sciences at the Faculty of Physical Education (FEF) at UNICAMP, in the area of ​​Sport Psychology and Neurosciences (Undergraduate and Graduate). She is also Professor and Full Member of the Graduate Commission of the Gerontology Program at the Faculty of Medical Sciences - FCM/UNICAMP. He coordinates the Study Group on Sport Psychology and Neurosciences (GEPEN). He works with Sport Psychology, Behavioral Psychology and Neurosciences, acting mainly in four lines of research: Sport and Psychological Aspects, Neurosciences, Sport Psychology in different groups (aging, neurological and rheumatological diseases) and Mental Health. She was Teaching Coordinator of Graduation at FEF-UNICAMP (6 years).
