The aim of the present study was to investigate the influence of the level of performance in artistic gymnastics on the motor performance of fundamental skills. For this, 22 gymnasts (mean age = 8.9 ± 1.54) were divided into a sports school group and a team group. The assessment of motor performance was performed by TGMD-2. The results, analyzed by the Mann-Whitney tests and the chi-square analysis, indicated superior performance of the team group in fundamental locomotor skills, as well as in the motor quotient. It was concluded that the amount of weekly practice can influence the results, but that there is specificity of the practice regarding the categories of fundamental skills practiced.
