Abstract

This article analyzes journalistic editoriais on environment published by the Brazilian newspapers "O Estado de S. Paulo", "Folha de S. Paulo", "O Globo" and "Jornal do Brazil" in the decades from 1970 ("Eco 72") to 1990 ("Eco 92"). It verifies that opinion is used as support of the information: that the editoriais represent more support elements to the informative covering, as they refer, in its majority, to the subjects that appear with larger emphasis in the informative texts, as estrategy to fasten in the public opinion the focus of the informative covering.
