Abstract

A study on the parasitism that occur in the extensive creations of domestic hens in Campos dos Goytacazes city, RJ, was carried through in the period of year of 2004. This was based on the necropsy and the analysis of 51 samples of faeces of deriving hens of creations located in urban and farm areas. The joined parasitic eggs belonged the helminthes Heterakis, Ascaridia, Capillaria, Oxyspirura, Cheylospirura and Strongyloides. The only joined cestode were of Raillietina. The biggest prevalence, however, was of oocysts of the coccidia Eimeria spp. The qualitative results of laboratory techniques of faeces examination concurred with the results of necropsy for helminthes and indicated more efficacy for eimeriosis diagnosis.
