SUPPLEMENTATION OF YEAST EXTRACT IN COMMERCIAL LAYER DIETS: PRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCE

This study was run to evaluate the effect of increasing levels (0%, 1%, 2% and 3%) of yeast extract (NuPro®) on productive performance of laying hens fed corn-soybean meal diet. A total of 240 Hy Line W36 layers (47 to 75 weeks of age) were allocated in 60 cages (4 birds per cage) and divided into 15 cages per treatment. Feed consumption, body weight, egg production, egg weight, egg mass and feed conversion (per dozen or per mass) were evaluated. There was no effect (P>0.05) of the treatments on the productive performance of the birds. It was concluded that the yeast extract inclusion did not improve the productive performance of the layers.KEY WORDS: Additives, egg production, laying hens.
