Abstract

This text aims to analyze part of the study developed during the postdoctoral phase (2021-2022) at the Postgraduate Program in Education for Science of the Universidade Regional do Noroeste do Rio Grande do Sul - Unijuí. An investigative and bibliographic/theoretical study was conducted to discuss the initial training of geography teachers in the Institutional Program Pedagogical Residence (PR), a subproject of Geography associated with the Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná, Francisco Beltrão campus. The discussion of teacher training, both initial and continuing, is challenging, but it is necessary to understand the directions of education and the future of geography as a school subject. The theoretical and methodological basis, which we will discuss throughout the text, and the practice as a professor of the geography program have allowed us to think the initial training of geography teachers based on the reality that we are insert and the experiences that we have received during the PR (2020-2022). Methodologically, we try to organize the learning and challenges we have experienced with PR in the form of texts produced by the residents. This corresponds to 24 (twenty-four) texts representing the number of members of the geography sub-project, which were analyzed in the light of Bakhtin's speech making possible the reflection about the prerogatives and challenges experienced during the realization of the PR program, its collaboration with the training of future teachers, as well as the relevance to the understanding of the complexes and extensive factors that affect the profession and its developments in being and doing teacher work.
