We live in a world in constant transformation, which requires Geography to make a continuous effort to critically interpret reality. This article presents a theoretical reflection on the concepts of geographic space, place and event, focusing on the geographic situation as a methodological tool. Based on authors such as Milton Santos and Maria Laura Silveira, it is argued that the geographical situation, understood as a bundle of events materialized in places, constitutes a powerful instrument for reading the contemporary world. It is argued that this approach, by articulating multiple scales and temporalities, contributes not only to research, but also to the teaching of Geography, favoring the development of geographic reasoning, the contextualization of school content and the critical formation of students. Thus, the geographic situation is proposed as a promising methodological path for geographic education in facing current challenges.
