Keywords:

Photographs make up Geography’s visual corpus both in its research and educational practices. Despite the theoretical, thematic and methodological turns that Geography has experienced as well as the photography’s technological changes, its approach to photographs has remained very stable. First, I will trace how the decisions defined each time a photography is taken shape the organisation of the visible. Second, I will analyse the marriage between the practice of image’s projection and the visual organisation of the photographs. Finally, assuming the creative potential of this visual language, I will discuss some ideas to push Geography’s approach to photography beyond literal translation.
