The aim of this article is to analyse the conceptions of the students of the University Master's Degree in Teacher Training in Compulsory Secondary Education (MAES) in the specialities of Social Sciences registered at the University of Seville in the 2019/2020 academic year, regarding the teaching of geography in secondary education classrooms based on their memories and expectations. A mixed descriptive-interpretative study is carried out with a sample of 24 participants based on a questionnaire of nine open questions. The results show that the teaching of geography continues to be approached from a traditional methodology, and where the textbook continues to be a central resource. Evaluation continues to be relegated to a final assessment aimed at passing the exam. In spite of the influence that the traditional model continues to have, future Secondary Education teachers consider that Geography is a subject that should be approached in a participative and active way, responding to current social needs.
