Abstract

Preliminary reflections of a research that aims to analyze and characterize the ways in which new topics of contemporary agenda are taught in high school geography classrooms are presented, in order to establish relationships between educational innovation processes, teaching transversal contents and appropriation of new communicative languages. Among these topics, we have selected three for their analysis: The gender perspectives linked to Comprehensive Sexual Education (ESI), Environmental Education and the Challenges of visual and digital culture in geography. We share the theoretical guidelines that guide our first hypothesis about how to think about an articulation between the treatment of integrated issues of a globalizing nature in geography and the teaching practices at the secondary level, where a process of content renewal is also being developed about formats for the transmission and evaluation of knowledge. And also how to approach the teaching of these topics from formative proposals that focus on: work by projects, integrated themes, transversal proposals, collaborative approaches, dialogue between different disciplines and the genuine incorporation of ICTs and the different forms of reading that these times impose.
