Abstract

A lot of studies have been made recently covering the area of Foreign Language
Teaching and Learning all over Brazil. This article deals with the reality of the
English teachers from public schools working in the country’s interior cities.
The focus of the research was Jaraguá, a small town in Goiás state. Its main goal
was to portray a profile of the local public schools English teachers. The results
provide a detailed picture of the teachers’ academic background, time dedicated
to the profession, idiom skills, classroom procedures and main requests.
Although it’s limited to the city of Jaraguá, it might enlighten a small portion of
Foreign Language Teaching conditions in the interior of the country.
