This paper analyzes the influence of social factors, age, gender and schooling on the use of the personal pronouns tu/você in the speech of speakers from Concórdia – Santa Catarina. The study has been supported mainly upon theoretical assumptions of variationist sociolinguistics (LABOV, 1972). The sample consists of 24 interviews distributed among two age groups, gender, and three levels of schooling. Statistical analysis was performed with the VARBRUL software (PINTZUK, 1988). The overall findings indicate thatyounger, male, and higher education speakers favor the use of innovative pronoun você.
