This article’s goal is to describe the experiences of carrying out the Women Scientists extension project, developed virtually by the UFMT in the second half of 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, which aimed to promote scientific dissemination about the science creation process based on gender and race discussions, especially on the participation of women in science. During the pandemic, it was clear that the population's lack of scientific knowledge interfered in individual and collective behavior, in addition to women’s overloaded burdens in this term, that can influence their staying in making science. Meetings, Lives, readings and discussions of materials were carried out. Through the interaction of the community and survey’s answers, we identified that the project not only achieved its goals, but also made it possible for women in lockdown to feel less alone and to understand how important it is to continue fighting to occupy the spaces they want to fill.
