This study aims to analyze the progress, challenges, and institutional policies in research, development, and innovation (R&D&I) at the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA) through April 2025. Through a qualitative approach and a document review, aspects such as scientific production, infrastructure, international cooperation, and ecosystem engagement were evaluated. The results reveal a 40% increase in indexed publications, the development of academic programs focused on innovation, and successful research projects. However, structural limitations such as insufficient funding, bureaucracy, and resource dispersion are identified. Recommendations are made to strengthen the innovative culture, improve institutional management, and consolidate UMSA's position as a regional R&D&I center. This work offers a comprehensive view of the Bolivian university context, aiming to contribute to sustainable development and establish itself as a benchmark internationally.
