The text exposes some of the actions carried out
by the University of Chile in recent years, for the promotion
and appreciation of artistic creation as academic production.
The implementation of a Department of Artistic Creation in the Vice Presidency for Research and Development, among
other initiatives, seeks to promote artistic production and
broadens the priority areas in the generation of knowledge
of contemporary Latin American universities. In a context of
political and social crisis in the region, the promotion of
artistic creation in the universities means a commitment to
the generation of critical, situated knowledge that promotes
tolerance, diversity and creativity, imagining new ways of
uniting and project our communities.
