Abstract

The UEFS Cinema Room was created in order to provide the extension experience for students from all courses and sectors of the State University of Feira de Santana and the external community, through the cinema. The purpose of this experience report is to present the results of events organized throughout the year 2020 that addressed the theme of ethnic-racial relations and their convergence with gender identities, sexualities and age relations. The cinedebates promoted, in a context of a global pandemic in Covid-19 and the intensification of ethnic-racial conflicts in Brazil, briefly described in this report, demonstrated the extent to which the hierarchies of race and gender, manifested by racism, machismo and misogyny, produce mechanisms of violence and social exclusion, attesting the pertinence of the use of cinema as a way to produce a strong criticism about these structures of domination, in addition to promoting effective actions to break them.
