Abstract

Aruanda (1960) by Linduarte Noronha is one of the exponents of brazilian new cinema. The film projected the state of Paraíba for a national and global scenario, reverberating in its tradition of making documentaries. The filmic work, which turned sixty in 2020, shows the relationship between the Quilombo do Talhado community and the physiography of the place. Contributing to the quilombolas by promoting several studies with an interest in their mise-en-scène and other interlocutions. This essay took place in the same site where the film was made, through an open class subsidized by the UFPB. Aiming to understand its creative process and honoring the sixtieth anniversary of the work, as well as highlight the importance of extension actions of public universities in Paraíba for the improvement of professionals in the state, providing the development of cultural products that may contribute to preserving the memory of its people.
