Mapping for Cultural Policy at UFBA

This article discusses the challenges posed by contemporaneity in the relationship between culture and the university. The text also promotes reflections based on the experience of Cultural Mapping of the Federal University of Bahia, a research that sought to expand the knowledge and recognition of the university as a cultural institution. In summary, the text concludes that the mapping is vital for the construction of university culture policies and plans, fundamental in the recognition by the university society as an institution active in the cultural field. In view of the recurrent attack suffered by the university in Brazil and in other countries, it is essential to guarantee its interaction with society, for which culture is a vital factor. On the most consistent interfaces between university and society the very future of the institution depends.
