Abstract

Low-level laser therapy is a technique used in dentistry for the complementary treatment of diseases that affect orofacial tissues. In the treatment of Temporomandibular Disorders (TMDs), Lasertherapy promotes pain relief, decreases inflammation, accelerates tissue repair, and consequently improves the patient's quality of life. The objective of this study is to understand, through an experience report, the expectations, as well as the knowledge acquired by an extension student of the Dentistry undergraduate course, on Lasertherapy as an adjunct in the treatment of TMD. From the student's report, it was possible to outline their expectations and experiences in the face of a new therapy. Thus, it is possible to observe the importance of the extension action in guaranteeing students contact with Lasertherapy and providing the development of skills, safety in clinical practice and perception of the patient's reality
