Abstract

The Bananeiras Paper and Fiber Extension Project, which basically consisted of the use of the banana trunk and sugarcane bagasse, was developed at the Biology Laboratory at the Arraias University Campus, aiming to improve the manufacturing techniques crafts-manship according to the resources available in the region and work on their applicability in different pieces, contributing to the development of regional crafts and the dissemination of practical concepts in Environmental Education. The development of activities in this project, therefore, aims to reuse and artisanal processing of this material, which would be discarded in the environment, thus avoiding its waste and transforming it into a potential source of income from natural resources. According to the positive results of this extension project, it is believed that the experience of academics and students of the state school there is potential for awareness and training in environmental education.
