A última entrevista de Pedro Ludovico Teixeira
Abstract
Na década de 1930, Goiás estava em penúltimo lugar no índice de desenvolvimento dos Estados brasileiros. Isolado do restante do país, sujeito a práticas políticas quase feudalistas, a partir da construção de Goiânia, o Estado iniciou um longo caminho de desenvolvimento que hoje o insere no primeiro grupo dos Estados brasileiros. Pode-se especular acerca do papel que a transferência da capital teve na mudança deste cenário: Goiânia foi encomendada como uma cidade que negaria as tradições da região, desde o traçado até a localização, incluindo a arquitetura. O arquiteto que recebeu a encomenda soube executá-la, e o homem responsável por desenhá-la foi o então interventor, Pedro Ludovico Teixeira. Além de interventor nomeado pela Revolução de 1930, Pedro Ludovico Teixeira foi governador e senador, até ser cassado em 1969. Ao todo, esteve quase 40 anos na linha de frente da política de Goiás. Pedro Ludovico morreu em Goiânia em 1979, aos 88 anos. Um ano antes, em 1978, concedeu aquela que seria sua última entrevista, aos jornalistas José Luiz Bittencourt Filho e Herbert de Moraes Ribeiro.
