EMBAIXADOR PAULO TARSO FLECHA DE LIMA
Abstract
Em julho passado, esteve em Goiânia para uma conferência sobre o bicentenário da abertura dos portos aquele que talvez seja o maior incentivador do comércio exterior brasileiro atual: o embaixador Paulo Tarso Flecha de Lima. Durante mais de quatro décadas, o ex-embaixador ocupou uma posição de proa na diplomacia brasileira, representando o Brasil nas embaixadas de Londres, Washington e Roma. Foi chefe do Departamento de Promoção Comercial do Itamaraty e ex-secretário-geral do Ministério das Relações Exteriores. Em 2001, depois de 46 anos dentro da diplomacia, Flecha de Lima aposentou-se. Atualmente, trabalha com consultoria em seu escritório em Brasília. Seguindo uma tradição já perdida, Flecha de Lima foi o último personagem do mundo diplomático brasileiro, integrante de uma linhagem de homens de ação que marcaram o Itamaraty até o limiar dos anos 90. Na descrição de uma conhecida revista brasileira, o ex-embaixador “tinha um estilo agressivo e direto, que arrebanhou aliados e inspirou ódio entre os inimigos. Quando sentava à mesa de negociação, era um gentleman, mas sempre foi firme em suas posições.” A mesma revista cita uma frase sua, a respeito da prática de negociações diplomáticas: “Não acredito em negociação soft.
