O Sertão
Abstract
O campo, entendido como as faixas de chão distantes dos mais densos aglomerados urbanos, mostra, sob aspecto do relacionamento dos homens entre si e destes com a natureza, nas várias partes do mundo, traços de similaridade. Um dicionário, tomemos o Aurélio, traz em primeiro plano, um significado para o vocábulo sertão: “região agreste, distante das povoações e das terras cultivadas”. Nos mais diversos trópicos e meridianos, há gente vivendo em lugares assim. As condições às quais são submetidas esculpem neles o comportamento, a maneira de ver o mundo. Sem prejuízo do devido respeito para com todas as formas de vida, parece difícil abordar o sertão sem que se recorra ao ser humano como ingrediente, sem prescindir do sertanejo e suas matizes, a começar de sua forma mais original – o indígena.
