Nações e o Romantismo
Abstract
Na cultura brasileira, a prioridade concedida ao modernismo relegou o aprofundamento da discussão sobre os outros períodos a um segundo plano. No caso do romantismo, tal desprestígio caminha na direção contrária à sua atual revivescência na Europa, propiciada pela pós-modernidade. Nesse cenário, O romantismo e a idéia de nação no Brasil (1830-1870) deve ser saudado. Recuperando os vínculos entre as diversas áreas do pensamento oitocentista, o livro se afasta do estudo monográfico, centrado na leitura de uma única obra ou escritor, para se alinhar a uma abordagem que privilegia os pontos comuns da política com a historiografia e a literatura.
