The article goes through one of the interviews carried out by the Research team "Being a Teacher at a Federal Technical School during the Civil-Military Dictatorship: history of life and teaching identity (ETFPA 1968-1985)", developed between 2018 and 2019 at the Federal Institute of Education Science and Technology of Pará. We trace through reports that can allow the understanding of different elements about teaching in the EFA of the 70s, the construction and development of the teaching career and of the political and social relations woven within a centennial institution, focused on training When linked to the Oral Life History paradigms, the research provides a different, qualitative and holistic look at teaching at a Federal Technical School. The approach consists in perceiving “being a teacher” in your totality, articulating the life story to teacher education.
