Abstract

This article aims to explore some of the ways in which a political discourse is constructed in the Libro de Gracián, an anonymous and fictional travel account from the first half of the fifteenth century in Castile. Starting from a brief analysis of its structure and authorship, we will analyse the intentions, context and political language of the work. For this we will resort to the theoretical perspectives of intellectual history, specially those of authors such as Quentin Skinner and John G.A. Pocock. In addition, we will also study the construction of an idea of the prince, a central element in the political thought of the work.
