Abstract

The present paper seeks to show how the building of the Brazilian nationalism had been inspires by the other nations' examples. Since the XIXth century the other Latin-American nations were considered to be the upside down pattern if it is made a comparison to Brazilian economic progress so they were the place of lateness and uncivilization. This myth of Brazilian Nationalism had been revived in the fifties when the changes in the press by the introduction of images in newspapers reports had stressed that comparison.

Key-words: Brazilian Nationalism: Latin-America: press: the fifties years.
