The aim of this study was the chek the student’s expectations about the newborn-babies concepts, the course of Neontology Nursing, and their concepts of newborn baby family. This is an exploratory-descriptive study developed with 33 undergraduate students from São Carlos Federal University(UFSCar) Nursing Course during the second semester of 2007. The results showed that the student’s expectations about the Neonatology Nursing Course are of apprehension when they visualised the newborn fragility and their difficulties with the handling of care measures. In this sense, the professor appears like a professional who can contribute in order to reduce or to make the difficulties disappear. The family was also considered to have an important role in the newborn baby attention.Downloads
