This study aimed to understand the perspectives of seven women’s handball coaches in after-school programs in Manaus, Brazil, through structured interviews focusing on the pedagogical principles adopted. Using a qualitative and descriptive approach, the results revealed a predominance of technical and strategic exercises, with less attention to tactical and socio-educational content. Although the coaches reported adopting both global-functional and analytical-synthetic principles at different stages of training, their practices predominantly reflected traditional approaches. Juvenile training emphasized greater specialization, while younger categories were conducted with a more playful approach. These findings are expected to contribute to further discussions on handball teaching methodologies.
