TRANS ATHLETES, STIGMA AND THE DOCUMENTARY “QUEM PODE JOGAR?”

Abstract

This production is a critical review of the documentary "Quem pode jogar?", which was released in 2020 and shown in the online edition of the "Festival Mix Brasil 2020". The production in question presents dialogues with trans and intersex athletes and makes their voices visible, reflecting the fears, desires and social barriers that these individuals face when they want to enter the sport. The aim of this review is to reflect on the characters' speeches, their journey, social prejudices and stigmas, and to lead the discussion about trans and intersex people as athletes.
