The documentary study analyzes what is essential for the initial and continuing education of teachers and for the pedagogical work of Physical Education. The sources were documents from ANFOPE, CNE, CNTE, CONFEF/CREF, MEC, MNCR, and legislative power. We conclude that there is a clash between perspectives: utilitarian and pragmatic considers essential the exploration, outsourcing, precariousness in teacher training and teacher work; and counter-hegemonic, for which the essential is the humanized life, based on the appreciation of teaching, on professional training and performance, on the defense of public services, and on the struggle for another way of production of life.
